Winetasting, cycling and rafting combination - weekend in Western Cape

After a laidback week there was an intense weekend coming! Mixture of adrenalin and alcoonalin, endorfings and relax...
In a large group we flew to Cape Town, drove to a luxurious wine estate (kinda a hotel in the middle of wineyards, people from Moravia now what i mean...). Next day we rented bikes and went for an exciting tour around surrounding wine farms. Surrounding means in the range of 30kms ;-). It was a beautiful hot day and our wine estate was deep in a valley... And even before we got to the first one, we discovered a crazy "largest pumpkin competition" with weird techno music and farmers all over the Western Cape. One of the ladies seemed to be unbeatable (weighing at least 200kgs) but then the moderator announced the competition is for vegetables only. She was disqualified.
And then, winetasting... Was so much fun, as the cool alcool in blood was combined with the heat and cycling effort; the drivers passing us were obviously also winetasting...
We survived, exhausted but amazed we came back just in time...
...for the rafting organizer to pick us up, right before sunset. Drove to a famous Breede River, set up a camp... it was so cold there .... temperature drop at least 15 degrees. And windy like hell. After a late dinner we went to our tents but sleeping was virtually impossible as the tents were bent by wind down to ground every 5 mins. Adventurous night....
The next morning we drove little down the river to start rafting... It was like being in prehistory - bushes, water, hills around - everything untouched by civilization... until we came ;-)
We had great time, trying to paddle agains a rapid and such things....
In the evening driving back to the Cape Town airport, we were touched by slums along the road... really really poor way of living....
