Weekend in Cape Town

I was looking forward to the weekend quite a lot, first travelling finally in SA.

We started by going to the east coast city of Durban on Thursday to have some business meetings there. Durban is a calm & humid city where you never feel cold. We met a lot of really poor black people on the streets and also couple of white rascists. The worst quote i've heard was "blacks in this land are only good for stealing and sleeping". The city itself remained unexplored for me as we spent there less then 24 hours and then i flew to the Mother City (Cape Town).

Welcomed by warm and sunny weather (at 7pm :-), i quickly started to like Cape Town.

Joining my friend for dinner in Radisson hotel, i could watch sunset eating a delicious meal... Consumption driven again... We went out afterwards to have a drink to a garden pub, very nice place, really fresh air....

Saturday was the day of Horse Racing. At the temperature of 34deg C, all the chicks of Cape Town gathered on 1sqkm of flat horse track and started girlie talks while watching strong horses compete. Was a good party and interesting insight into South African society :-)). Actually, it was mostly white SA society which is not a representative sample... But cool anyway...

And then i took a ride around Cape Town and all it's wonderful bays... people seemed so nicely laid back, wind was constantly keeping the air fresh, ... really a good atmosphere...

On Sunday i took a walk around the city center, seeing all the significant places that shaped the history... visiting the moslim district of Bo-Kaap... colourful houses and people reminding me of iran :-)))

And beautiful botanic garden at the end.... Very interesting experience was the Table Mountain's impact on weather - it's a 1km high mountain almost on the coast and it keeps clouds off the coast. Cape Town is both in front of and behind the Mountain and you drive just 5kms around the mountain and escape the clouds... or vice versa... on the coast, it was so sunny and in the botanic garden it was going to rain :-)))
